It was the Republicans playing a desperate move to silence talk of "bring them home now" by forcing a vote on "terminating operations in Iraq immediately", which no one is going to vote for (well three dems voted yes, and 6 or so voted "present"). It was a desperate political ploy, but it's too late because Mutha's had too much influence already. So, not thanks for nothing. Murtha's action did have meaning.
